Aquesta és una «crònica lingüística i discursiva» de com es va conceptualitzar i presentar la pandèmia de la COVID-19 en el període que va des dels inicis, al febrer de 2020, fins al juny de 2021. Basant-se en conceptes de la retòrica i l'anàlisi del discurs –com la metàfora, el símil o la multimodalitat–, i de la terminologia –com els neologismes o la creativitat lèxica– reflexiona, en un to divulgatiu però rigorós des d'un punt de vista teòric, sobre la relació entre llenguatge i pandèmia. L'obra desgrana els episodis més destacats d'aquell període explicats gairebé en directe a partir de notícies i altres testimonis procedents dels mitjans de comunicació.
