Este livro é uma adaptação da tese de doutorado em Administração pelo Instituto Coppead da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), intitulada "Modelo de Mensuração da Competitividade Turística Sustentável de Municípios no Brasil" e defendida em 2013. A obra resgata o propósito maior da autora em transcender à produção acadêmica em si, desenvolvendo um modelo matemático para cálculo de um índice de competitividade de destinos turísticos sob a ótica da sustentabilidade. Espera-se que a proposta apresentada possa não só colaborar na formação de estudantes de turismo e áreas afins, sobretudo na revisão da literatura sobre competitividade turística, podendo ser útil para professores e pesquisadores, mas também representar uma solução auxiliar para proposição de estratégias de políticas públicas de turismo no Brasil. O uso de um modelo matemático composto de indicadores extraídos de dados secundários de acesso público permite que a ferramenta seja utilizada por gestores de destinos de todos os portes e acessos a recursos financeiros disponíveis para tal desafio.
