Ma, dopo averlo letto, ci chiediamo: può un solo uomo cambiare il modo in cui va il mondo? Sì, secondo l'autore. Il protagonista del romanzo, con la forza dell'amore e con il sostegno affettuoso di chi lo circonda – la famiglia in primis e i colleghi di lavoro – riesce non soltanto a sconfiggere la sindrome di Asperger di cui soffre sin da bambino ma anche a raggiungere traguardi importanti e di prestigio che mette con spontaneità a disposizione della comunità.
È un romanzo che nasce dalla consapevolezza dell'autore che qualcosa si può e si deve fare per questo territorio sfruttato e sacrificato al dio denaro. Il suo esiderio di cambiamento non è solo una mera idea senza connessione con la realtà, al contrario, l'esperienza di governo della cittadina in cui da sempre vive gli ha permesso di mettere in atto ciò in cui egli stesso e il personaggio principale del libro credono: che lo spirito di unità, fratellanza e collaborazione all'interno delle comunità locali possono creare il cambiamento concreto mirato a risolvere le problematiche occupazionali e ambientali.
