Este libro intenta ofrecer algunos rasgos fundamentales de una visión actualizada del misterio de Dios. Tratando de evitar el dogmatismo «alguien así» presenta una visión personal de la fe «es el Dios en quien yo creo» buscando la sintonía con las preocupaciones de la cultura actual. Procede por aproximación. Empieza con una primera presentación más sencilla, cálida y enunciativa de las que considera ideas centrales que marcan la alegría de la fe. Continúa acentuando de manera crítica la reflexión teológica sobre tres temas de especial urgencia: la idea de creación por amor, el problema del mal y el cuestionamiento de la oración de petición. Finalmente, se adentra en temas de más agudo interés especulativo: acogida cordial del «Dios de los filósofos», defensa apasionada del carácter personal de Dios y análisis del trayecto de Dios en la conciencia religiosa, que permite asomarse al abismo luminoso de la identidad presentida por los grandes místicos de todas las religiones.
