Primavera del 1938. Una jove auxiliar de la biblioteca popular de Canet de Mar viatja per primera vegada al front en el bibliobús, una biblioteca ambulant creada per portar llibres als combatents de l'Exèrcit de l'Est de la República i als ferits que es recuperaven en els hospitals de la rereguarda. El bibliobús va recórrer Catalunya de punta a punta, de la costa al Pirineu i sempre condicionat pels bombardeigs i els moviments de les tropes. Aquesta és l'aventura de l'Aurora Díaz-Plaja i també la de les seves companyes bibliotecàries, noies valentes de vint i pocs anys, compromeses amb el seu temps i la seva gent, per a qui la vocació professional estava per damunt dels perills de la guerra. En el temps del bibliobús germinarà la llavor de l'Aurora Díaz-Plaja, que esdevindrà després una pionera i referent inqüestionable del foment i la divulgació de la literatura infantil del nostre país.
