El principal hallazgo de este libro es que las casas de justicia en Colombia constituyen una importante idea para mejorar el acceso a la justicia de las personas más vulnerables económicamente, pero que es un modelo inacabado en la medida en que no se ha reflexionado lo suficiente, de manera que las casas de justicia puedan entenderse verdaderamente como un programa y no simplemente como un conjunto desarticulado de edificaciones en las cuales se prestan servicios de justicia. Así, la finalidad de esta investigación es hacer un diagnóstico del Programa Nacional de Casas de Justicia y realizar algunas recomendaciones de política pública que potencien sus virtudes y mejoren el acceso a la justicia. Para ello revisamos la literatura comparada sobre programas similares que se han implementado en otros países y los estudios que se han hecho en Colombia; realizamos entrevistas a distintas personas conocedoras de las casas de justicia, bien sea porque han estudiado académicamente el programa o porque tienen alguna relación a nivel laboral con las mismas; e hicimos observación y visitas a ocho casas de justicia.
