Neste livro, é apresentada uma pesquisa bibliográfica em autores consagrados e trabalhos relativos ao tema, para isso os aspectos teóricos que envolvem o assunto são abordados. Podemos destacar a teoria geral da mecânica dos solos, a interação solo-estrutura, estes influenciam nos movimentos diferenciais de fundações e são responsáveis por notáveis danos às construções e sobretudo as fissuras, que se apresentam exclusivamente devido aos recalques oriundos dessa interação. É identificada a relação existente entre fissuração em elementos não estruturais e estruturais com recalques diferenciais em fundações, concluindo-se que existe uma estreita relação entre a forma, localização e quantidade de fissuras e os recalques, que foram as causas destas. Para isso, foram impressas imagens extraídas da bibliografia estudada que correlacionam as fissuras com os fatores que as provocaram, demonstrando um padrão de fissuras ocasionadas pelos recalques diferenciais das fundações de edificações.
