Die GedenkstĂ€tte des Staatlichen Museums Majdanek, in einem Vorort von Lublin/SĂŒdostpolen gelegen, ist die Ă€lteste, die an die Verbrechen des Nationalsozialismus erinnert. Schon im Herbst 1944 wurde hier ein Erinnerungsort eingerichtet. Das Konzentrationslager Majdanek war ein multifunktionales Lager, in dem Menschen aus ganz Europa gefangen gehalten und getötet wurden. Der Ort bildete aber auch einen Kreuzungspunkt verschiedener Aktionen der Vernichtung jĂŒdischen Lebens und polnischer Existenz im so genannten Generalgouvernement. Dazu gehören die "Aktion Reinhardt", die "Aktion Erntefest", der "Generalplan Ost" u.?a.?m. Aufgrund der schnellen Befreiung des Lagers im Sommer 1944 existiert ein reichhaltiges Archiv. Das Staatliche Museum Majdanek, das auch ein neues Studienzentrum besitzt, ist ein besonders geeigneter Lern- und Erinnerungsort fĂŒr zeitintensive und methodisch kreative Projekte mit SchĂŒlerinnen und SchĂŒlern und anderen Zielgruppen. Seit fast 20 Jahren fĂŒhrt die Gesamtschule Waltrop dort ein Fachpraktikum durch, das GedenkstĂ€ttenfahrt und SchĂŒleraustausch miteinander verbindet. In diesem Rahmen entstehen Facharbeiten, die auf Recherchen vor Ort beruhen.Im vorliegenden Sammelband wird anhand von SchĂŒlerarbeiten gezeigt, wie forschendes Lernen gelingt. BeitrĂ€ge der begleitenden Lehrerinnen und Lehrer zeigen die unterrichtliche Perspektive auf. Weitere BeitrĂ€ge setzen sich mit Konzeptionen solcher GedenkstĂ€ttenseminare auseinander und erlĂ€utern die Geschichte des Ortes "Majdanek".Entstanden ist ein Band, der exemplarisch zeigt, wie historisches Lernen in einer Schule mit heterogenen Lerngruppen gestaltet werden kann.
