Wie wurde er der, der er war?Um diese Frage zu beantworten, nimmt Martin Schaad detektivische Ermittlungen zu Kurellas Leben auf. Alfred Kurella selbst hat keinen Text verfasst, der darĂŒber Aufschluss geben könnte, jedoch hat er Mitte der 1930er Jahre in Moskau einen Roman geschrieben - "Die Gronauer Akten.". VordergrĂŒndig wird darin ein Kriminalfall in einem kleinen niedersĂ€chsischen Dorf zur Zeit des Nationalsozialismus geschildert. Bei genauem Lesen jedoch weist dieser Text starke autobiografische ZĂŒge auf. Martin Schaad hat den Roman genau interpretiert, hat unterschiedlichste Indizien zusammengetragen und kann sowohl den Zeitpunkt als auch die GrĂŒnde fĂŒr Kurellas Verwandlung in einen dogmatischen Großinquisitor der DDR-Kultur benennen. Die Auseinandersetzung mit der Person Kurella und die biografische Spurensuche im Subtext seines Romans vermitteln spannende Einblicke und neue Erkenntnisse zur Aufarbeitung der DDR-Geschichte anhand eines signifikanten Einzelschicksals.
