The dissertation focuses on using 7-amino-4-methylcoumarin as a photophysically active group in designing hybrid ligands and their metal complexes.Further, the functionalization of the amino group was carried out only at the 7-position to synthesize ligands and coinage metalccomplexes. The coinage metals were chosen mainly due to their d10 electronic configuration since fully filled d-orbitals were known to exhibit interesting optical properties. The synthesized metal complexes were characterized using standard analytical tools and investigated for their photophysical properties.Further, the experimental findings are supported by quantum chemical calculations.
