Dei due volumi che intendo dedicare ai Greci e al loro "amore incerto", questo è il primo ed è interamente occupato dall'analisi del Simposio di Platone. Il secondo volume esaminerà invece l'altra opera di Platone, ideale prosecuzione del Simposio, e cioè il Fedro. Si occuperà poi di Orfeo ed Euridice (l'amore in-contro la morte), di Admeto e Alcesti, di Filemone e Bauci (l'amore nuziale che non interessa tanto i filosofi, ma che piace agli Dèi) e infine delle donne che, come il vino, servono anche, forse, a fare dimenticare la morte.
Amore e morte, dunque: la vittoria spetta nel Simposio al primo e questo fatto segnerà profondamente l'intera storia dell'Occidente.
Sebbene da questo primo volume emergano ben chiari alcuni punti fermi (per quanto riguarda la teologia, l'antropologia e la soteriologia), trarremo le conclusioni solo al termine del secondo: pazienza quindi! Tratto dalla Prefazione diell'Autore
