The Illuminating Diary of a Professional Lady

About this book

Gentlemen Prefer Blondes is a comedic novel written by Anita Loos. It was first published in 1925 and quickly became a bestseller. The novel is written in the form of a diary and is presented as the journal of Lorelei Lee, a glamorous and somewhat naive blonde woman from Little Rock, Arkansas.Published the same year as F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby and Carl Van Vechten's Firecrackers, the work is one of several famous 1925 American novels which focus upon the insouciant hedonism of the Jazz Age. Anita Loos (April 26, 1889 – August 18, 1981) was an American screenwriter, playwright, and author, best known for her sharp wit and humorous writing. She was born in Sisson, California (now Mount Shasta) and raised in San Francisco. Loos began her writing career at a young age, contributing to various magazines and newspapers.
