Teaching the Preservation
About this book
Since its creation in 2007, the Laboratory of Techniques and Preservation of Modern Architecture (TSAM) at the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) has been a unique experiment in how to teach the preservation of twentieth-century architecture. With courses in both theory and project design, the TSAM has been a driving force in the development of preservation as a discipline in its own right, in Switzerland and farther afield. In publishing this third volume of the TSAM Notebooks, the Laboratory is taking a look back at this remarkable pedagogical undertaking and providing a snapshot of the current situation. This book brings together contributions from the many architects, engineers, landscape architects, and architectural historians who over the years have been a part of the teaching experience at the EPFL and who have been instrumental in its success.
