Witte ediert vier Texte, die er dem "Meister des Lehrgesprächs", einem Magister des Augustinerordens, zuordnet: den Audi-filia-Dialog, den Gratia-Dei-Traktat, den In-principio-Dialog und den Traktat von der Minne. Diese vier Texte werden hier erstmals im Zusammenhang lesbar gemacht. Darüber hinaus wird aufgezeigt, dass der Autor wahrscheinlich mit Johannes von Basel (ca. 1333-1392) identisch ist. Witte weist anhand des Sentenzenkommentars und der Quästionensammlung des Magisters zahlreiche und umfassende Übereinstimmungen nach: Besonderheiten der Augustinerschule, aber auch erste Abweichungen davon bei Johannes von Basel, die der Meister des Lehrgesprächs übernimmt. Somit wird ein für die Germanistik neuer Autor vorgestellt und zugleich wird das theologische Profil des Augustinermagisters erweitert.
