En 2016 el papa Francisco beatificó en la capital de Laos a un grupo de diecisiete mártires —sacerdotes, religiosos y laicos— que habían dado su vida por Cristo en aquellas tierras entre 1954 y 1970. Este libro da noticia de todos ellos. Eran misioneros y colaboradores de los Oblatos de María Inmaculada.Mario Borzaga, natural de Trento, había llegado a Laos en 1957, recién ordenado sacerdote. Fue martirizado poco después, en 1960, a sus 27 años. Escribió un precioso diario que da voz a su vocación de misionero oblato, que ofrecía su vida por amor a Jesucristo, e ilumina la peripecia martirial de aquel grupo de testigos del Evangelio del perdón y la paz.Su testimonio se une al de millones de mártires del siglo XX, que brillan como aurora de una mañana de Esperanza en la cerrada noche de unos tiempos atormentados, nada lejanos.
