About This Book
The book consists of 13 chapters covering different topics of food packaging. First few chapters of the book covers the principles of various forms of the food packaging material such as plastic, paper, metal and glass. The manufacturing process, properties and the application of each are also discussed. The packaging requirement of various groups of food products such as fruit, vegetables, milk, cereals, snack, and beverages is discussed in a separate chapter. Some special topics and essential learning in packaging such as shelf life of packaged food, aseptic packaging and recycling of packaging material are also present. In order to synchronize students with advancement in food packaging the chapters on active packaging, intelligent packaging, modified atmosphere packaging, edible and biodegradable packaging has been added.
