His call sign, "Hoot Gibson", is what saves his sanity. Turning to flying to cope becomes his freedom again as one of the best helicopter pilots around. The mission was one of great importance to the United States but was so clandestine most of the generals in Europe were not even read in on it. They had no clue what was going on until it was over.
