O texto destaca as referências alegóricas, nesse filme, ao erotismo anal no homem e ao erotismo tântrico/taoísta, aproximados como "feminizantes", logo "abjetos" e "não-inteligíveis" (J. Butler) e provocadores de "pânico homossexual" (E. Sedgwick) entre esses homens que se pode apontar como "hetero-queers" (R. Heasley). Como pano de fundo, as reflexões no livro também procuram se articular à luta mais ampla contra a misoginia e a homofobia, igualmente assentadas sobre a repulsa ao feminino.
