Nicht nur diese Männer, sondern auch ihre Familien, Freunde und ihr gesamtes soziales Umfeld standen weiterhin unter gesellschaftlicher Ächtung durch die von den Nationalsozialisten 1935 verschärften Paragraphen 175 und 175a. Zusätzlich dazu wurden schwule Katholiken durch kirchliche Verlautbarungen, Diskriminierungen und Verurteilungen als besondere "Sünder" stigmatisiert. Als Zeitzeugen, sogenannte "175er", berichten sie einerseits nach ihrem Outing von den Verbrechen der Kirche und des Staates an ihnen und andererseits gelang es diesen schwulen Christen durch ihr selbstbewusstes, selbstaktives und selbstverantwortliches Auftreten, zum Abbau der Stigmatisierung und Marginalisierung in Kirche und Staat beizutragen.
