Da sie selbstkritisch ist, gehören solche Gegenstimmen unbedingt dazu – sie verhindern Fixierungen und halten die Erinnerungskultur lebendig. Inzwischen hat sich das Spektrum der Kritik allerdings noch einmal deutlich erweitert. Vom rechten politischen Rand aus werden die Grundlagen unserer Erinnerungskultur mittlerweile radikal in Frage gestellt.
Aleida Assmann geht in ihrem Buch, das nun in aktualisierter Neuauflage vorliegt, auf die kritischen Stimmen der jüngsten Zeit ein.
