Band IV des von der Kommission für Alte Geschichte und Epigraphik des DAI herausgegebenen Handbuchs der Staatsverträge des Altertums bietet eine vollständige Sammlung der griechischen und lateinischen Originalquellen zu allen überlieferten Staatsverträgen des 2. und 1. Jh. v. Chr. Sämtliche literarischen bzw. epigraphischen Texte werden außerdem in neuen deutschen Übersetzungen geboten, die dem Nutzer den unmittelbaren Zugang zu den antiken Quellen erleichtern sollen. Die Verträge sind darüber hinaus jeweils mit erläuternden Sachkommentaren versehen. Namen-, Sach- und Wortregister ermöglichen die direkte Erschließung der historischen Inhalte. Damit bietet der Band ein wichtiges Instrument für die künftige Bearbeitung der Geschichte der zwischenstaatlichen Beziehungen in einer der bedeutendsten Epochen des Altertums, in welcher Rom zur bestimmenden Macht des Mittelmeerraumes aufstieg.
