Kiev and Moscow in History

Bitterness and memories of a pro tempore diplomat

About this book

In democracies, unlike autarchies, public opinion matters and partially determines History. The unprovoked, unexpected, illegitimate and criminal Russian aggression against Ukraine has shocked, disoriented and traumatized Western public opinion. Outrage must remain strong and determined, but critical understanding is also needed. This book offers a twofold key to understanding current events which is focused both on the synthesis of their historical roots and on the experience of a diplomat pro tempore who, since 2010, has directly witnessed Russian Federation's autocratic, repressive and aggressive involution unravel. As Tatiana Yankelevich, Sakharov's adoptive daughter, stresses in her Foreword to this book, author's purpose is "to open people's minds, compel them to recognize their responsibility to the peaceful future of Europe, do all they can – and more! - to in turn compel their governments to stand forcefully for Ukraine's rights and freedom. Should Europe fail to do that, the price for its own freedom will be much higher.
