Lawrence that tells the story of Kate Leslie, an Englishwoman who travels to Mexico and becomes caught up in a revolutionary movement led by a charismatic and enigmatic figure known as the Plumed Serpent. As Kate becomes more involved in the revolutionary cause, she becomes increasingly drawn to the Plumed Serpent, both as a political leader and as a lover. However, as the revolution grows more violent and the stakes become higher, Kate must grapple with her own allegiances and desires, as well as the cultural differences and power dynamics between herself and the Mexican people.
