The disinherited, which takes place in what has come to be known and studied as the Madrid of Galdos or Galdosian Madrid, narrates the misadventures of Isidora -the supposedly disinherited-, a pretty girl who arrives in the Spanish capital "e;full of illusions, falls into prostitution and ends up in jail. "e;A dreamy sensibility that has been led to believe the heir of a marquisate. In this regard, Casalduero, correctly reading Galdos, notes that "e;an impostor like Isidora can have tragic greatness when he himself is deceived; otherwise he is a vulgar faker"e;.
