Efter et skånselsløst naboopgør i 1658, hvor svenskerne drog over isen og tog os på sengen, måtte vi skamfuldt afstå Skåne, Halland og Blekinge. Siden er området forsvensket og betragtes nu blot som en fjern fætter. Skånelandene var dog danske från början og havde været det i 800 år. Landsdelen, der engang blev besunget som "det smukkeste land i Danmark", var lige så pæredansk som Jylland, Fyn og Sjælland, og kongerigets hovedstad kunne lige så vel have ligget i Lund sammen med ærkebispesædet. I dag vajer det rødgule flag fortsat foran mange sydsvenske træhuse, og siden Øresundsbroens indvielse er der igen blevet hvisket om "Skåne – en født del af Danmark".
