About this book
Die Komponistin Marianna Martines (1744–1812) wuchs in Wien auf und erhielt im Umfeld von Pietro Metastasio eine profunde musikalische Ausbildung. Zu ihren Lehrern gehörten Giuseppe Bonno und Joseph Haydn. 1773 wurde sie in die Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna aufgenommen. Neben geistlichen Werken komponierte sie vor allem Vokalmusik und Werke für Tasteninstrumente, mit denen sie auch selbst, als Sängerin und als Cembalistin, auftrat. Den Angaben in der handschriftlichen Biographiensammlung der Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde Wien zufolge, komponierte sie 12 Cembalo-Konzerte, von denen nur vier überliefert sind. Diese werden hier erstmals gesamt in einer kritischen Edition vorgelegt.
