Breweries, soap manufacturers, meat packing plants, and other industries flourished, as supplies and products were distributed throughout Cincinnati along the Miami-ErieCanal?steamboats crowded the Ohio River wharves. The city thrived during the decades surrounding the turn of the 19th century.
