Eternal colonialism is a combination of both internal and external colonialism, or neocolonialism. Benjamin and Hall argue that the colonialism beginning in the fifteenth century never ended, but rather developed different forms over time. The scope of their work examines eternal colonialism in both American and international contexts. The authors contend that the United States practices internal colonialism within its borders, in addition to being fully engaged in external colonialism.
