Buddha’s Conversions vs. Devadatta’s Schisms: From the First Arhant Kauṇḍinya to the Questions of Upālin

A New Edition of the Gilgit-manuscripts of the Saṃghabhedavastu in Mūlasarvāstivāda-Vinaya II, with Introduction and Concordance

About this book

This present edition is based on the Gilgit Sanskrit manuscripts (fo. 424-523) and Gnoli's editio princeps of Sa?ghabhedavastu II published in 1978. Different readings are shown in different symbols and are dealt with in the footnotes. There is a concordance of the Chinese translation by Yijing ?.? of Sa?ghabhedavastu accomplished in the beginning of the 8th Century. Some readings in the ?r?ma?yaphala-s?tra have been improved based on the Gilgit Sanskrit manuscripts of Pravrajy?vastu of M?lasarv?stiv?da-Vinaya. The cataloge numbers and the editions of the fragments found in Turfan edited by Waldschmidt et al. are noted briefly in the footnotes with reference to the volumes and the page numbers of Sanskrithandschriften aus den Turfanfunden (SHT).
