About this book
Essay from the year 2024 in the subject English Language and Literature Studies, grade: 2,0, University of Mannheim (Anglistisches Seminar), course: Advanced Essay Writing, language: English, abstract: This paper examines the tension between public investment and economic freedom within the social market economy. Drawing on the economic policy ideas of John Maynard Keynes, it analyzes how public investment in social and economic infrastructure can promote individual and societal freedom in the long term. Using the examples of education, healthcare, transport infrastructure, and climate protection, the paper demonstrates that targeted government intervention can be understood not as being in conflict with freedom, but rather as a prerequisite for a free and economically productive society.
