From the Jawf region of Yemen come the earliest Ancient South Arabian epigraphs, dating back since the 8th century BCE. Expression of the five city-states of Nashsh?n, Kamna, Haram, Ma??n and Inabba?, and of their fluctuating relations with Saba?, they attest to a well-defined writing and artistic tradition which characterized this region until the expansion of the kingdom of Ma??n at the beginning of the 6th century BCE. This volume collects in a unitary philological edition the nearly three hundred inscriptions composing this archaic corpus. Mainly written in the Minaic language and partly in Sabaic, those texts are pivotal sources for the historical, cultural, and linguistic reconstruction of the earliest phase of the Ancient South Arabian history. Dalla regione del Jawf dello Yemen provengono le più antiche epigrafi sudarabiche, databili almeno agli inizi dell'VIII secolo a.C. Espressione delle cinque città-stato di Nashsh?n, Kamna, Haram, Ma??n e Inabba?, e dei loro altalenanti rapporti politici col regno di Saba?, esse attestano una tradizione scrittoria e artistica raffinata e ben definita, che caratterizzò la regione fino all'espansione del regno mineo agli inizi del VI secolo a.C. Il presente volume raccoglie in un'edizione filologica unitaria le circa trecento iscrizioni che costituiscono questo corpus arcaico. Redatte principalmente in lingua minea e in parte in lingua sabea, esse sono fonti cruciali per la ricostruzione storica, linguistica e culturale della fase iniziale della storia sudarabica.
