The open conspiracy Blue prints for a world revolution

H. G. Wells

The Open Conspiracy: Blue Prints for a World Revolution by H. G. Wells is a visionary manifesto that outlines a bold and comprehensive plan for global transformation. Originally published in the early 20th century, the book advocates for a radical rethinking of politics, economics, religion, and education to build a progressive world civilization grounded in science, reason, cooperation, and shared human purpose. Wells presents "The Open Conspiracy" not as a secretive plot, but as a transparent, collective endeavor—open to all humanity—to establish a world commonwealth that transcends national borders and outdated institutions. The work begins with reflections on the necessity of a new kind of religion—not based on dogma, but on the subordination of self to the greater good. It then transitions into practical strategies for shaping a future society through education, propaganda, creative social units, and constructive alliances with existing progressive movements. Emphasizing that this world revolution must be heterogenous, decentralized, and adaptive, Wells also discusses the internal and external resistances it will face—from conservative social forces to individual moral weaknesses. His ultimate vision is a peaceful, organized, and just world order achieved not through violence, but through persistent intellectual and moral effort. This book remains a compelling exploration of idealism, activism, and the challenges of collective transformation, offering a rare blend of philosophical depth and political urgency.
