In Defense of Hope

About this book

The intent of this book is to present and track the collective flow of argument throughout the Christian era with respect to the end state of the thousands of myriads of human beings who did not--often could not--understand who and what God is: what his intended purpose is for them personally and collectively, and what his intended purpose and role for his people are in supporting and guiding them in and beyond the "general" resurrection, when they will be called to a meaningful life of health, love, and service. This will be a joyful service of God first and foremost, but forever focused on other than the self.
This picture intends to show that believers' hoped-for eternal life and desire to be loved and fulfilled personally will in the end be the story of maturing in outflowing love, such that people can only feel loved and fulfilled as the key result of growing in the giving of the self.
