About this book

First published in 1931, "Raphael's Horary Astrology" is a vintage guide to predicting the future using astrology. It contains chapters on a broad range of related subjects, but focuses on divining the answers to a variety of questions ranging from 'how long shall I live?' to 'when should I sell my property?'. This volume will appeal to those with an interest in the topic, and it is not to be missed by collectors of vintage literature of this ilk. Contents include: "The Symbols Explained", "The Planetary Aspects", "Of the Nature of the Aspects", "Of the Nature of the Aspects", "Of the Nature and Qualities of the Signs of the Zodiac", "The Measurement of the Planetary Aspects", "The Orbs of the Planets", "Descriptions of Persons Produced by the Planets in the Twelve Signs", "The Significations of the Planets", etc. Many vintage books such as this are becoming increasingly scarce and expensive. PART II

CHAPTER I

THE RESOLUTION OF QUESTIONS RELATING TO THE FIRST HOUSE
1. Is the person inquired about at home?—See what house signifies or rules this person, and the lord of this house angular, the person is at home; if the ruler be in succeedent houses he is a little way off but can be found, but if cadent he is away and will not be found. If the significators of the querent and quesited be applying to a favourable aspect, and without frustration or impediment, then the parties will meet; or if there be translation of light the querent will hear of the quesited, and from the person signified by the translator.
2. Shall I live long?—If you find the Sun, Moon, and Ascendant free from affliction, and the two former in any house but the 4th, 6th, or 8th, you may judge you will; the more so if

or

be in favourable aspect to the Moon, and the malefics be in obscure houses (viz., the 6th, 8th, and 12th), and not in any aspect to the lights. The querent will not live long if the lord of the 1st be in the 4th or 8th, or the

afflicted by the malefics from the 6th or 8th houses, or the malefics holding the chief angles (1st, 7th, and 10th), and the lord of the ascendant, and lights in obscure houses.
3. How long am I likely to live?—Have regard to the lord of the ascendant, if it apply to a

, or a malefic in the 4th or 8th, then the number of degrees between the significator and the aspect will show the length of time he will live, according to the measure of time explained in Part I. The

4. Of an event suddenly happening whether good or evil?—Consider the lord of the ascendant, the

and the

, and which planets dispose of them, and if you find them in good aspect to each other, or to
image
or

, then no harm will come to the querent, but if you find

afflicting the lord of the ascendant,

, then it will damage the native, and if you consider the afflicting planet and its lord you will see through whom or what the damage will come, as the 3rd house, brethren, neighbours, etc.; 4th, fathers, lands, etc., and so on of the others.
5. Whether an absent one be dead or alive?—If the absent person be a relative, then take the house signifying that relative, as the 3rd for a brother, 4th, a father, 5th, a child, etc., and if a friend take the 11th, but if no relation, nor yet a frie...
