Schwerpunkt ist nicht die funktionalsemantische Kategorie der ModalitĂ€t im Spanischen, sondern eines ihrer wesentlichen Ausdrucksmittel: der Verbmodus, speziell der Subjuntivo im Kontrast zum Indicativo. Es ist eine Tatsache, daß es alternierende Möglichkeiten zum Ausdruck gleicher modaler Inhalte gibt, auch wenn die Ausdrucksmittel im System der Sprache funktional unterschiedlich angelegt sind, z.B. Subjuntivo und Indicativo in der funktionalen Opposition IrrealitĂ€t - RealitĂ€t. Ausdruck dessen ist u.a. die allgemeine Tendenz insbesondere in der gesprochenen Sprache, immer hĂ€ufiger den Indicativo in Kontexten zu verwenden, die eigentliche DomĂ€ne des Subjuntivo sind. Um einen möglichen syntaktischen Sprachwandel nachzuweisen, ist es notwendig, stĂ€rker als bisher die spezifische Rolle grammatischer Mittel bei der Konstituierung der Satzbedeutung zu ermitteln; nicht zuletzt, um auch das etwas verschwommene Konzept der Sprechereinstellung in der traditionellen Grammatik zu konkretisieren und durch sprechakttheoretische Aspekte zu ergĂ€nzen. Von besonderem Interesse sind dabei die Kontexte, in denen die Modi Subjuntivo und Indicativo alternierend gebraucht werden. Kontexte dieser Art sind im wesentlichen Gegenstand der empirischen Analysen anhand des "Corpus del Diccionario del Español de MĂ©xico". Die Untersuchungen werden durch kontrastive Überlegungen im Hinblick auf den Modusgebrauch im Deutschen ergĂ€nzt.
