choice

disinfectant
appears
to
be
largely
dictated
by
safety
and
comfort
of
bathers,
and
also
their
perception
of
the
pool
water
(i.e.
its
clarity
and
colour),
with
cost
being
of
rather
less
concern
(Figure
2).
The
responses
to
the
second
question
were
more
varied
(Figure
3),
but
tended
to
emphasise
water
quality
aspects
of
the
pool
environment
(Figure
4).
In
fact,
as
far
as
bather
comfort
and
health
is
concerned,
it
is
the
air
quality
that
is
arguably
of
greater
importance.
However,
this
is
intimately
related
to
water
quality,
specifically
the
relationship
between
the
disinfectant
chemistry
and
the
pollutant
load.
