Die sprachlich-stilistische und inhaltliche Analyse von Fritz Mauthners (1849-1923) Parodien wird vor allem von der Frage geleitet, inwieweit parodistische Komik, Karikatur und Kritik von sprachlichen Techniken abhĂ€ngig ist, welche traditionellen und/oder innovativen parodistischen Mittel eingesetzt werden und wie der Parodist innerhalb der stilistischen und inhaltlichen Verfremdung seiner Vorlagen seine Kritik am Original transparent macht. Die fĂŒr die einzelnen Analysen ausgewĂ€hlten Texte (Parodien auf Berthold Auerbach, Gustav Freytag, Richard Wagner, Paul Heyse und Eugenie Marlitt) stehen exemplarisch fĂŒr die jenigen Formen der Literatur der 2. HĂ€lfte des 19. Jahrhunderts, die nach ihren stilistischen Merkmalen als "GrĂŒnderzeitliteratur" gelten. Eine systematische Zusammenfassung der Techniken von Mauthners Parodien prĂŒft und bewertet die QualitĂ€t der Imitation und Karikatur und ordnet sie als kongeniale Texte ein. Anschließend wird der Frage nachgegangen, in welchem VerhĂ€ltnis Mauthners Parodien zu seinen spĂ€teren erkenntnistheoretischen Werken stehen und ob sich bereits in den Parodien sprachkritische Überlegungen finden lassen: Die Parodien, die nicht eigentlich literarische Vorlagen haben (z.B. Eduard von Hartmann, Emil du Bois-Reymond), lassen sich nicht nur als eine satirisch getönte Stilkritik an der GrĂŒnderzeitliteratur, sondern auch als Sprachkritik an öffentlicher, journalistischer und wissenschaftlicher Rede der 2. HĂ€lfte des 19. Jahrhunderts lesen. Sie stehen somit am Beginn von Mauthners sprachkritischem Werk.
