The design of manpower auxiliary electric
vehicle for entertainment

Riding or driving is not only to satisfy the need of people’s daily traveling, but also a way of leisure of people. This article introduces a kind of manpower auxiliary electric vehicle for entertainment. The front wheel is steering wheel. The frame of chassis is equipped with the system of rear wheel drive. The system of rear wheel drive is composed of electric drive and manpower pedal drive. In which electric drive and manpower pedal drive can be used in mutual conversion through the clutch device; the structure of the works is easy, clean and environmental protection. It is not only operated easily, realizing the combination of the electric power and the manual operation skillfully, but also enhances the enjoyment and practical application of driving.

1. Introduction

With the development of the society, people’s standard of living has been improved constantly. Their state of mind has changed a lot. They are not complied with their house. Instead they are eager to the outdoor for an outing or visiting friends. People has been pursuing the higher quality of life constantly. To satisfy their living requests, the mechanical device which can make people’s life more abundant and convenient needs to be designed and made out. Recreations are indispensable in high quality of life. So a variety of entertainment products are needed. Against that backdrop, the household mechanical device for entertainment emerges as the times require. The manpower auxiliary electromobile is just a machinery for entertainment. The product is an electromobile with four boosting wheel. It can carry three people. People can choose electromotion, pedaling by one person, pedaling by two person, mixing electromotion with pedal independently. When the little vehicle is driven by pedaling, it is just like the bicycle. people take exercise in the super interesting environment. If they are tired to pedal, they can drive the vehicle using the electric power. It is just like the car, making people experience the feeling of driving a car.

2. The Design Scheme and Main Technical Parameters

This manpower auxiliary electromobile for entertainment is light and small, uniquely shaped and widely used. People can choose many ways to drive the little car to realize advancing, drawing back, making turns, making front and rear light twinkling. The automobile body design is requested to be spacious, comfort for sitting. It can be used both for outdoor entertainment and for communications media. The design should also be combined with ergonomics theories to reach the goal of nice driving and comfortable riding.

The integrated design figure of manpower auxiliary electromobile is shown in the Fig. 1. The little vehicle is composed of headstock, front frame, chassis, rear body, rear suspension, driving system. The driving system includes two parts: motor drive and pedal drive. Electric parts is made to adjust current magnitude of electric motor circuits by Hall sensor, thus to change the output power of motor, and then to change the rotate speed of the little vehicle to drive the car forward and backward. Manpower pedal drive is made up of two-stage chain transmission. There are two ways of manpower pedal drive for users to choose autonomously: pedaling by one person and pedaling by two person. To satisfy the requirement of two person of the front seats can drive the car by pedaling apart or the same time. The transmission scheme is designed to drive the first stage chain transmission by stepping on the foot pedal. The later stage chain transmission is driven by the transmission shaft. From this the rear-wheel is driven and the little vehicle moves forward. The little vehicle makes turns by chain transmission. The main technical parameters: (1) The whole automobile is 1969 mm in length, 970 mm in wide, 1000 mm in height. The shaft of the front wheel is 1426 mm away from the shaft of the rear wheel. The distance of the two front wheels is 830 mm. The whole vehicle weighs 95 Kg. The two shaft of pedal chain wheel is 436 mm in distance. The rated load is 200 Kg. (2) The electric drive parameters: the electric drive can realize the function of moving forward and CVT of the little vehicle. The electric drive can reach the highest speed of 28 Km/h. (3) Pedal parameters: pedaling by one person can reach the speed of 0.475 m/s. Pedaling by two person can reach the speed of 0.859 m/s. The pedal coordinates with the electric drive can reach the speed of 30 Km/h.

3. The Design of Steering Gear

The steering gear is located in the headstock. It can make drive relaxing and make ride comfortable. The steering wheel is fixed up in the center of the two front wheels of the stock. The height and gradient of steering wheel are designed according to the request of ergonomics. This steering gear is different from traditional layout form of vehicle steering gear. The traditional ackerman steering of steering gear is located on the horizon of central point of front wheel. It makes driver moves backward. The driver occupies most interior space. Thus the space of rear passengers decreases. Moreover, manpower auxiliary electric vehicles simplify the steering gear and the steering gear is fixed up in the instrument desk. Thus the utility rate of space is improved. At the same time, it can make the location of the driver moves forward. It can also make the semilying posture grows the standard sitting posture. Because the time of driving won’t be too long. So the standard sitting posture won’t influence the comfortableness. Meanwhile, the foot movement of rear people can be increased greatly in the limited interior space. It is beneficial to pedal by manpower. The height of steering wheel is 850 mm. The gradient of steering wheel is 20 degree. The steering gear is mainly made up of the steering wheel 1, the steering shaft 2, the same two chain transmission (the little chain wheel 3, the big chain wheel 5, the chain 4) and two spindle and so on. As shown in the Fig. 2. The fundamental of the steering gear transmission: When the steering wheel turns, it drives the spindle and the two little chain wheel turn together. The two little chain wheel 3 drive the two large chain wheel 5 turn by the chain 4. The large chain wheel buckled on the spindle 6 which is consolidated in the front wheel through the bayonet lock. So it realizes the function of passing the torque of the steering wheel to the spindle 6, thus driving the little vehicle round. The shaft of the steering wheel is supported by two bearings.

4. The Design of Pedal Drive Gear

The form of pedal drive gear is shown as Fig. 3. It is made up of the same two pedal chain drive 1, transmission shaft 2 and chain drive 3 that drives the rearwheel moves.
