That being said, this chapter provides the step-by-step explanations of configuring accessibility options, Cortana, Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer, and Power & sleep settings. These and many others present a way of configuring and customizing many aspects of your Windows 10 computer for the sake of stimulating work with the computer, performance, and productivity. As such, it requires a sound knowledge of all OS features, options, and components. Among the accessibility options covered in this chapter are Magnifier, Narrator, Audio, Speech, and On-Screen Keyboard. These options enable Windows to see, hear, use, and focus on tasks to make it easier to type. Likewise, this chapter is accompanied with step-by-step instructions driven by targeted, easy-to-understand diagrams. This chapter concludes with disabling Internet Explorer as a chapter lab.

Common configurations and customizations
The most enjoyable thing in Windows 10 is undoubtedly the return of the Start menu. But not just that because, this time, Microsoft with Windows 10 brings you a Start menu that can fit your personal style. In addition, Windows 10 comes with handy tools to personalize the Windows desktop, Windows Taskbar, and the Notification Area. These and many others present the true potential of Windows 10 in providing plenty of tools, settings, and ways to configure and customize the working area on your Windows 10 computer.
Configuring and customizing the Start menu
Ever since the introduction of the Start menu in Windows 95 (with the exception of Windows 8/8.1) until now in Windows 10, there have only been minor changes here and there. The Start menu remains the unique element that embodies the Windows operating system. Having said that, the Start menu in Windows 10 represents a combination of the Windows Start menu (Windows 95 to Windows 7) and the Windows Start screen (Windows 8/8.1). As a result, on touch-enabled devices, Windows 10 automatically enables the Tablet mode, displaying the Windows 10 Start menu in a format of a Windows Start screen. Otherwise, on non-touch-enabled devices, Windows 10 automatically enables the Desktop mode, hence displaying the redesigned Windows Start menu.
To turn on and off the Tablet mode in Windows 10 using Windows Settings, complete the following steps:
- Click the Start button.
- Select Settings on the Start menu.
- Select Personalization on the Windows Settings dialog box.
- Select Start on the Personalization setting's navigation menu.
- And then turn on Use Start full screen, as shown in the following screenshot, to enable the Tablet mode:

- Turn off Use Start full screen in order to enable the redesigned Windows 10 Start menu (that is, the Desktop mode).
Continuum is the feature that enables Windows to automatically switch between the Desktop mode and Tablet mode. It does so based on what OS you use. You can also use the Tablet mode tile in the Action Center to toggle between the Desktop and Tablet modes.
