Band 7 liegt in zwei Teilbänden vor. In diesem Teil 1 sind die Vorschriften des Sechzehnten und Siebzehnten Abschnitts des Besonderen Teils des StGB kommentiert (§ 211 bis § 231 StGB). Die Tatbestände "Mord" und "Totschlag" (§ 211 StGB und § 212 StGB) und die Androhung der lebenslangen Freiheitsstrafe sind zentrale Regelungen für das gesamte Strafensystem des StGB. Sie waren in den letzten Jahren erneut Gegenstand intensiver Reformdiskussionen und -bemühungen. Der seit dem 10.12.2015 geltende § 217 StGB stellt erstmals die geschäftsmäßige Förderung der Selbsttötung unter Strafe und damit einen Ausschnitt der sonst straflosen Beihilfe zum Suizid. § 217 StGB war von Anfang an umstritten und ist immer noch Gegenstand kontroverser Diskussionen in Wissenschaft und Öffentlichkeit.
