Characters

Callum Banks

A twenty-five-year-old filmmaker. Following university moved back to his seaside hometown to be with his mother.

Amy Porter

Sixteen years old. Following the posting of the video, her parents have sent her back to their old home town, from Manchester, to help her uncle George close down his DVD shop over the summer holidays.

Jenna Jamze

Only ever seen on screen, Callum’s obsession and most famous porn star in the world – thirty-one and beginning to question her lifestyle.

Josh Taylor

Only ever seen on screen, Amy’s ex-boyfriend and the one who posted the video of them. Eighteen years old.

The words ‘ON SCREEN’ appear in bold capitals whenever action moves to the screen or happens simultaneously with live action.

Setting

The play is set in a closing-down DVD shop and a makeshift film studio in a run-down seaside town.

A simple set with one screen dominating the space USC.

There are two areas: the DVD shop and Callum’s studio space.

A mouse cursor moves over it and double-clicks onto…

Project XXX site

A grainy image comes into the viewing window of the website, it is Amy with an ice-pop, simulating a blow-job and giggling. An off-camera male can be heard, clearly he is holding the camera – this is Josh.

Amy is in her school uniform.

JOSH (laughing)

Yeah, that’s it baby, work it.

AMY (giggling)

OK, OK, hold on. (Takes on porn star stance and voice) Do you like it like this baby? (Simulates blow job then gags on the ice pop.)

JOSH (laughing)

You’ve got to work that gag reflex.

AMY

But it’s really cold, Josh!

JOSH

Don’t use my bloody name!

AMY

Why not? Joshy, Joshy, Josh-Josh.

Amy starts simulating the blow-job again. Gags again, then stops.

JOSH

It’s running down your arm

AMY (giggles)

He’s just cum!

JOSH

Go on, again. Deeper.

They both laugh. Amy starts again, but accidentally bites the end off.

AMY (mouth full)

I’ve bitten the end off!

JOSH

That’s gotta hurt!

They both laugh.

JOSH

Come on, let’s stop fucking about, get over here.

We see the camera angle change as the phone moves down lower.

It should appear that Josh is pretending he’s no longer filming.

AMY

Is that off?

JOSH

Yes.

AMY

You sure?

JOSH

Yes, I turned it off. Come on. Let’s see what you’ve learned.

The screen fuzzes with static. From out the static Jenna Jamze (porn star) appears. She is in the middle of a red carpet interview. We see flashes of paparazzi cameras. There are off-camera interviewers, we only see Jenna.

INTERVIEWER

Jenna, Jenna, what’s your secret?

JENNA

Pure and simple… it’s my fans, sugar. My boys are the ones who’ve kept Jenna Jamze at the top of her career for all these years. You know, these are my tenth Adult Vid Awards, and I’m still at the top because I just love to please my fans. They keep me sane, they make all the hard work worthwhile. Each and every man out there gazing at his screen thinking is Jenna doing it for me? Does Jenna care about me? Could she be mine?

Jenna looks straight into camera.

JENNA

I’m yours. I’m all yours baby. I’m fucking for you.

INTERVIEWER (with irony)

So, it’s how you communicate with your fan base?

JENNA

I talk to my fans direct. We have, what I like to call, a special relationship. (Looking to camera) Don’t we, boys?

Jenna blows a kiss to the camera and walks off.

We see more static.

On screen, from the point-of-view of the camera in an editing program, we see a bedroom set up. Callum looks into the camera, picks up the clapper board, which reads Teen Cherries 1/Bedroom Scene

CALLUM

Teen Cherries one, bedroom scene, take one.
