Recommended Reading

Muller and Kirk's Small Animal Dermatology. Edited by Miller, Griffin and Campbell, and published by Elsevier. This book is considered by most to be the standard comprehensive textbook. The latest edition is the seventh, published in 2013. A weighty tome packed with useful information, arranged by the cause of the disease and well indexed to make the material readily accessible. The book has a North‐American perspective.
Skin Diseases of the Dog and Cat: Clinical and Histopathologic Diagnosis. By Gross, Ihrke, Walder and Affolter, published by Blackwell Science in 2005. This excellent and unique book explains the clinical presentation and the histopathology of each condition. It gives clinicians a more thorough understanding of each disease process by relating the macroscopic to the microscopic. The book does not contain information on treatment.
Canine and Feline Skin Cytology by Francesco Albanese, published in 2016 by Springer International Publishing. This book contains lots of good quality photographs of inflammatory and neoplastic cytology, along with clear and helpful text. It is a useful text to keep close to the microscope.
