As part of various research I have created various overviews with eCommerce shop providers, which I therefore want to provide my readers here for free. Today now part 1 - rental shops.

What are rent shops?

Rental shops are complete solutions: You secure one or more domain names via a provider and rent a certain amount of storage space on the server.

A functioning shop system already exists or can be activated by mouse click. The term for this service is Application Service Provider (ASP) or application service provider.

The service provider thus provides an application such as an online shop for information exchange over the Internet. The ASP handles the entire administration, such as backup, patching, shop and server availability, etc.

The service scope

Depending on the offer, services such as merchandise management, accounting or payroll accounting can also be used as a pure shop software. The applications do not run on the PC or in the company of the shopkeeper, but on the server of a provider.

Unlike application hosting, part of the ASP service is also service (such as user support) around the application. The required software is not purchased, but rented if necessary via the data network for use.

Which rental provider is the best?

Providing a clear recommendation for this or that supplier is difficult at this point. The best rental shop for the one dealer can be completely unsuitable for the next one.

Too much depends on what requirements you ask, what functions you need, how much money you can spend or want. Therefore you will find here a supplier overview starting point for your own research.

What to look for in the selection

If you are looking to sell internationally, or if you have a list of medium-sized shoppe packages, you may also find larger-sized variants or cheaper entry-level packages.

Because the tariffs often change or vendors start special deals with favorable conditions, you should inform yourself about the daily prices on the respective provider websites.

Today, my small eCommerce series continues with purchase shops, so-called “out of the box” solutions.

What are “out of the box” solutions?

Shop software, especially when it comes to smaller standard packages, is called “out of the box” solutions in industry jargon. Because the principle is: You buy a shop program (or download it) and install it on your home PC.

Then design and equip your online shop offline before publishing the results - either on your own server or rented webspace. So you are doing all the preparations locally before uploading the completed pages to the server.

Wide selection, many criteria

The selection of shop software is very large and finding the right package for your needs is no easy task! At the beginning therefore stands - as with the rental shops - the determination of the individual requirement catalog.

Only then can you decide which program package is best suited for you with which functionality. The listing below gives you a first impression of products and prices.

Like renowned German shop solutions, which can be used to create at least 1000 articles and an unlimited number of product groups.
