Listen to the Lord's prayer like you've never heard it before!

Luke 11: 4 Oh, that we may discover our innocence by realizing the completeness of the forgiveness of our sins! Now, everyone indebted to us may also know that we have fully released them from their obligations to us! Father, you know us inside-out! Free us thoroughly from any hidden alliance with the old system of performance-based living! ("Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil!" This sounds like God had temptation on today's agenda for you, but if you pray this prayer, then maybe he'll change his mind! 'To lead' in this sentence is the Greek word eisphero, to carry inward, to reach within; and temptation is the word peiratzo, to test thru piercing, to examine closely, from peira, to pierce; a test to determine the hidden value of something; also from the word peras, which speaks of extremity or the furthest boundary. James 1: 13 says clearly that God tempts no one. "Do not say, "I am scrutinized by God" when you feel enticed. He is not in the teasing business; evil offers no attraction to God for God to be tempted by it, neither is he experimenting with your design! [God cannot be both the source of light and darkness. Every temptation is an attempt of darkness to intercept light. James 1: 17.]

The deliverance from evil, poneros, is the intent of this sentence, that hidden alignments to the law of works will not be found within me, giving evil a foothold as it were. The word poneros, translated, evil, means full of hardships, annoyances and labors! Sounds like the wrong tree to me!)

Luke 21:1 Sitting in the Temple Jesus looked up and observed rich people casting their money into the treasury.

Just an interesting note on the word for treasury, gazophulakion is a compound of gaza, Persian word for royal treasury; and phulakē guard or protection. The young man, Philip freshly appointed to serve tables [in Acts 8], saw more significance revealed in the table than in his job-description; the next moment he is preaching up a storm in Samaria, where he is commissioned by God to go on a lonely road named Gaza, to meet the chief treasurer of Ethiopia - he overhears him reading from the Jewish Scriptures [obviously brought to Ethiopia generations before when, the Queen of [then] central Africa, followed up on the rumors of Solomon's wisdom and wealth]. Phillip then joins the chariot of the treasurer and asks him, “Sir, do you understand what you are reading?” [Phillip knew that it is possible to read the right book but get the wrong message!] The passage of Scripture which he was reading was from Isaiah 53:7, “As a sheep led to the slaughter or a lamb before its shearer is dumb, so he opens not his mouth.” And beginning with this Scripture Phillip told him the Good News of Jesus! [Acts 8:35] Jesus is the context of Scripture. Isaiah 53:4, 5)

Notes on Luke 21:4 Giving beyond “Tithing”

Luke 21:4 They gave out of their bounty she gave in a complete different currency; she gave out of her extreme poverty, abandoning her entire livelihood to God in total trust.

Paul mentions the two currencies, or laws in Romans 3:27.

This reminds of 2 Corinthians 8:1 Allow me to encourage you with the striking testimony of the grace of God evidenced in the churches of ¹Macedonia! (The Romans had lacerated ¹Macedonia economically. [Livy, XLV. 30.]The churches in Macedonia included Philippi, Thessalonica and Berea.)

If tithing is law language, then “abundance of joy overflowing in a wealth of liberality” is grace language when it comes to giving!

2 Corinthians 8:2 Their mental mettle was ¹tested to the extreme; they found themselves squeezed into a very ²narrow space. Yet, in the depth of their poverty, their ecstatic joy led them into extravagant generosity! They had discovered the conclusion of grace: no degree of poverty can separate us from our ³seamless oneness with one another. Grace translates within us a wealth of liberality.

[2] The word ²thipsis from thlibo, to be thronged, hemmed into a very narrow space.

[3] The word ³haplotes, from hama, which is a particle of union and pleko, braided; quality or state of unmixed motivation, without mental reservation, no hidden agenda, undivided heart.

2 Corinthians 8:3 I salute them for intentionally giving themselves beyond their means.

2 Corinthians 8:4 We had nothing to do with this - they were the ones who insisted with utmost sincerity and urgency that we mediate their ¹tangible grace-gift to their fellow saints.

[1] The word, ¹diakonos, deacon or minister from dia + konis literally through dust, translates here, tangible, practical or incarnate; this word commonly translates as ministry, service, running errands. I believe that the ultimate ministry is the expression of the heart of God in tangible human form, true New Testament deacon is a celebration of the incarnation.

Luke 21:6 To which Jesus responded, These very structures you admire today, will one day be reduced to rubble.

Whilst the physical temple was destroyed in 70AD, Jesus is very conscious of a different temple and the unparalleled significance of his mission! See John 2:17 This incident reminded his disciples of the Scripture, “I am consumed with zeal for my Father's house!” [Psalm 69:9. God is ablaze with zeal for you! You are the temple of God - his address - his dwelling! Also Hebrews 12:29.] John 2:18 The Jews demanded to know from Jesus how, what he has just done in the temple, could possibly point to the significance of his Messianic mission. “Show us a sign!” John 2:19 To which Jesus responded, “The temple will be completely demolished by you and in three days I will raise it up!”)

Notes on Luke 21:11 Terrors and Ominous Signs

Luke 21:11 There will be massive earthquakes in various places and famines and plagues. Also, terrors and ominous signs in the heavens.

Everything that can be shaken will be shaken.

See Hebrews 12:25 If Jesus is the crescendo of God's final message to mankind, you cannot afford to politely excuse yourself from this conversation. Consider the prominent place that Moses plays in the history of Israel: if you think that Moses or any of the Prophets who spoke with authority on earth deserve honor, how much more should this word that God declared from heaven concerning our sonship, and our redeemed innocence revealed in the Messiah himself, deserve our undivided attention!

Hebrews 12:26 When he introduced the prophetic shadow of what was to come [the Law system], his voice visibly shook the earth. [Exodus 19:18.] But now the

Messiah has come [he is the one the law and the prophets pointed to; the desire of the nations; he is what heaven and earth were waiting for. Hag 2:6,7] The voice of God [articulated in Christ's birth, life, ministry, death, and resurrection], has rocked not only the systems on the earth, but also every unseen principality in the heavens, to their very foundations!

Hebrews 12:27 In the words of the Prophet, “Yet once more will I shake every unstable system of man's effort to rule himself.” God clearly indicates his plan to remove the old and replace it with the new. The second shaking supersedes any significance in the first shaking. Then it was a physical quaking of the earth; now the very foundations of every man-made system was shaken to the core while the heavens were impacted by the announcement of his permanent rule on earth as it is mirrored in heaven.

Hebrews 12:28 We are fully associated in this immovable Kingdom; an authority that cannot be challenged or contradicted. Our participation echoes grace [and not law and fear-inspired obedience] as we ¹accommodate ourselves to God's delight, yielding in awe to his firm embrace.

[1] The word, ¹euaresto, means well pleasing, to accommodate yourself to God's delight.

Hebrews 12:29 His zeal for us burns like fire. (Deuteronomy 4:24.)

John 1:17 Against the stark backdrop of the law; with Moses representing the condemned state of mankind, Jesus Christ unveils grace and truth! He is the life of our design redeemed in human form.

Luke 21:19 In your ¹conscious, undisturbed abiding in seamless union with your Source, ²take immediate ownership of your souls!

[1] The word, ὑπομονή ¹hupomone - often translated, endurance, has two components, hupo, under the influence of and meno, seamless abiding - thus, to continue to be present; consciously abiding in undisturbed, seamless union with your Source.

[2] Do not allow circumstances to let your soul [your mind and emotions] dictate to you or define you! The word, κτησασθε ²ktesasthe, from ktaomai, a primary verb; to acquire [by any means; to own] - obtain, possess, provide, purchase. Aorist Imperative Middle [rather than Future] - refers to an immediate action, get it over and done with! The Middle expresses the idea that the action described is of special advantage or significance to the subject. The Aorist Imperative is preferred by most, since copyists probably changed it to future tense in some manuscripts. Bruce Metzger - Textual Variants. This reminds of a very similar conversation that Luke recorded in chapter 12; Again Jesus continues to use typical Jewish narrative-language as reflected in their law and prophetic paradigm. Knowing well ...
