“The haters of the Lord would pretend submission to Him” (Psalm 81:15a).

Tares (Matt. 13:24-30)

“Another parable put He forth among them, saying, The Kingdom of Heaven is likened unto a man who sowed good seed in his field; but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares (children of Satan) among the wheat, and went his way” (Matt. 13:24-25). The wheat (true believers) and tares (false brethren) are allowed to remain together in the churches until the harvest (the resurrection and rapture of the true believers and the destruction in Hell of the false brethren).

False Brethren (2 Cor. 11:26)

“In journeying often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the Gentiles, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren” (2 Cor. 11:26).

“They went out from us, but they were not of us: for if they had been of us, they no doubt have continued with us; but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us” (1 John 2:19).

Enemies of The Cross of Christ (Phil. 3:18)

“Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them who walk even as ye have us for an example. For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ, whose end is destruction, whose God is their appetite, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things” (Phil. 3:17-19). Neither Cold Nor Hot (Rev. 3:15)

“I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot; I would thou wert cold or hot. So because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of My mouth” (Rev. 3:15-16).

The cold people are truly spiritually dead or heathen and the hot people are the saints. The lukewarm people are pretenders who are neither cold or hot and also spiritually dead. GOD rejects the lukewarm people for He spews them out of His mouth because He never knew them. Remember there are only the “saints” and the “ain’ts”.

Irenaeus Against Heresies

Irenaeus (AD 120-202) was a disciple under Polycarp and wrote against Marcionism, which began in Rome. Irenaeus was from Lyons in Gaul (France). He wrote about the doctrines and practices of Simon Magus and Menander.

“Simon the Samaritan was that magician of whom Luke, the disciple and follower of the apostles, says, ‘But there was a certain man, Simon by name, beforetime used magical arts in that city, and led astray the people of Samaria, declaring that he himself was some great one, to whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This is the power of GOD, which is called great.

And to him they had regard, because of that long he had driven them by his sorceries. This Simon, then—who feigned faith, supposing that the apostles themselves performed their cures by the art of magic, and not by the power of God; and with respect to their filling with the Holy Ghost, through the imposition of hands, those that believed in God through Him who was preached by them, namely, Christ Jesus – suspecting that even this was done through a greater knowledge of magic, and offering money to the apostles, though he, too, might receive this power of bestowing on whomsoever he would, – was addressed in these words by Peter:

“Thy money will perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God can be purchased with money; thou ...
