Plusieurs chapitres de ce livre traitent des expertises particulières des Cours fédérales, dont le droit administratif, le droit de l'immigration et des réfugiés, la propriété intellectuelle, la sécurité et le renseignement, le droit autochtone, le droit de l'environnement, le droit maritime, le droit du travail, les droits de la personne et le droit fiscal. Le juge en chef Marc Noël et le juge en chef Paul Crampton ont également contribué à cet ouvrage. La préface est rédigée par le juge Frank Iacobucci, et l'épilogue, par le juge Robert Décary.
