Die Forensische Linguistik ist ein Teilgebiet der angewandten Linguistik. Ihre Aufgabe ist es, sprachliche Daten zu analysieren, die Gegenstand einer juristischen Betrachtung sind. Forensische Linguistik befasst sich daher mit der Analyse von mündlichen (Sprechererkennung) und schriftlichen Texten (Autorenerkennung), die Gegenstand einer polizeilichen Ermittlung oder eines gerichtlichen Verfahrens sind, mit Äußerungsdelikten (z.B. Beleidigung), mit Plagiatsvorwürfen und mit Bedeutungs- und Verständlichkeitsnachweisen von streitigen Begriffen oder Äußerungen z.B. im Zusammenhang mit Markenrecht, Produkthaftung oder Vertragsrecht. Die Analyse anonymer Texte, die in den Philologien eine lange Tradition hat, wurde seit den 1950er Jahren in ihrem Potenzial als kriminalistische Hilfswissenschaft erkannt, in der Bundesrepublik trat die forensische Textanalyse erstmals im Zusammenhang mit den Bekennerschreiben der RAF und der Oetker-Entführung ins allgemeine Bewusstsein.Das vorliegende Studienbuch führt anhand authentischer Texte und exemplarischer Analysen in das Arbeitsfeld und in die wichtigsten Analysemethoden ein. Alle Kapitel sind mit konkreten Fällen illustriert, Aufgaben in den einzelnen Kapiteln ermöglichen eine unmittelbare Anwendung.
