Otras características a destacar son: Se utilizan un gran número de referencias cruzadas, lo que confiere al texto una gran flexibilidad si se plantea alterar el orden de los temas.Los problemas están basados en casos reales; existen unos pocos problemas básicos y el resto intenta ser un reflejo de la química orgánica actual. Abundante uso de ejemplos biológicos para ilustrar las reacciones químicas, incidiendo continuamente en las relaciones entre la química y la biología.
