Tutto questo narrato attraverso le vicende di una compagnia teatrale che, rifugiatasi in una villa chiamata "La scalogna", vuole mettere in scena una piece dal titolo "La favola del figlio cambiato". Proprio il carattere incompiuto del testo ha mantenuto aperta la possibilità di proporne diverse versioni anche se gli appassionati di teatro non potranno mai dimenticare le regie di Giorgio Strehler che molto lo rappresentò al Piccolo Teatro di Milano, riscuotendo grandi successi anche in ambito internazionale. La cover del testo è, implicitamente, un omaggio a queste regie, proponendo una foto di scena che vede Andrea Jonasson nei panni di Ilse, durante la stagione 1993-94.
