In Auseinandersetzung mit dem Gesamtwerk Rumelants von Sachsen wird eine differenzierte Autorpoetik des Dichters im ausgehenden 13. Jahrhundert gezeichnet.Darüber hinaus werden durch synchrone und diachrone Vergleiche mit anderen Sangspruch-Autoren gattungstypische Merkmale poetischer Rede aufgezeigt. Im Mittelpunkt steht das asymmetrische Begriffspaar Kohärenz und Mehrdeutigkeit: Modellanalysen zeigen, wie sich die Strophen in einem Spannungsfeld von einerseits auf unmittelbare Verstehbarkeit zielenden Sprechakten und andererseits artifizieller Sinnpluralisierung verorten lassen. Dabei wird deutlich, wie Mehrdeutigkeit Kohärenz herstellen, aber auch stören kann. Untersucht werden Prozesse der Kohärenzbildung auf Produktions- und Rezeptionsseite mit Blick auf die Frage der Texteinheit in einem Geflecht von Produktion, gesungener Aufführung, Verschriftlichung und Rezeption.
